The qualifying learner is capable of:
Assembling and tie-ing reinforcing cages and using the correct materials and methods for fixing reinforcing in a safe and efficient manner. The learners will be able to demonstrate knowledge of types of tools, equipment and personal protective equipment, Steel fixing sequence and SABS requirements for the different types of ties.
Learners who are assessed as competent against this unit standard will be able to assemble and tie reinforcing cages. In addition to the above, learners who are credited with this standard will be able to prepare and fix reinforcing as well as describe types and uses of reinforcing.
It contributes to socio-economic transformation in that learners will be able to undergo RPL assessment and receive recognition for previous learning and experience. The employability and career prospects of learners can therefore be enhanced by this unit standard.
